Department of Labor Awards Funding to NOD’s New Jersey Outreach
Washington, DC, September 30, 2011 — Today, the Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) announced grants to four organizations totaling $2.2 million, including a $550,000 grant to the National Organization on Disability. The purpose of the grant, which will launch NOD’s new Every Talent, Every Skill project, is to increase the capacity of GLBTQI-, minority-, and women-owned businesses to employ youth and adults with disabilities.
NOD will use the funding to advance disability employment initiatives in New Jersey, convening chambers of commerce, state vocational rehabilitation, the Workforce Investment Board, and businesses to work together toward effective disability employment policy and practice.
