NOD Hosts National Play Date to Celebrate ADA
McLEAN, VA, July 23, 2010 — NOD hosted “ADA: We All Play” to honor the 20th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, at Clemyjontri Park in McLean, VA. The park, which features ramps, rubber surfacing, and lowered monkey bars, is designed so that children with and without disabilities can play side-by-side.
NOD Chairman Governor Tom Ridge and US Congressman Jim Moran spoke at the event. Attendees included Fairfax County Supervisor, Cathy Hudgins; Ms. Wheelchair Maryland, Shannon Minnick; Paralympian Jerome Singleton; and Washington Mystics player Ashley Houts.

The day included rides on a carousel recessed to ground level to be accessible for wheelchairs.
