Innovation: Pilot Projects
NOD finds creative approaches to employment issues for people with disabilities. One way we do this is conducting pilot projects to test new approaches for companies seeking to diversify their workforce, career-seekers with disabilities trying to access jobs, and the public and nonprofit agencies helping these jobseekers access the workforce. We then share the findings to promote widespread adoption of effective practices and advance evidence-based public policy. In devising, implementing, and evaluating our projects, NOD works closely with researchers, training and education institutions, employers, policy-makers, and public agencies.
NOD Pilot Projects
In 2007, the US Army asked the National Organization on Disability to design a solution. The result is the Wounded Warrior Careers program, in which hundreds of the most severely injured veterans and their families have begun planning and preparing for careers, enrolling in school or training programs, taking jobs, and moving ahead.
