Lorena Chelaru

Human Resources & Operations Manager

Lorena Chelaru serves as the Human Resources & Operations Manager at the National Organization on Disability (NOD), where she oversees key human resources initiatives and streamlines operational processes to support the organization’s mission.

Prior to joining NOD, Lorena served as Program Evaluation Manager at L&G Research and Evaluation Consulting, Inc., where she evaluated federal and state grant implementations across 25 New York City schools. With over seven years of experience working with youth organizations, Lorena has a strong background in program evaluation, youth development, and community engagement.

Lorena holds both a Master’s degree in Community Development and Planning and a B.A. in Psychology, with a concentration in Urban Development and Social Change, from Clark University. During her time at Clark, she participated in a research initiative studying youth culture in Cuba, deepening her passion for inclusive community development.
Outside of work, Lorena enjoys reading, working out, and baking, with lemon tarts and pomegranate chocolate ganache tarts being her favorite recipes.
