Driving Change
Research
Driving change through research that uncovers barriers and identifies actionable solutions to advance disability inclusion.

Data That Drives Inclusion
Too often, disability is excluded from the data collection and analytics that shape our world. This is why NOD leads with research.
From our flagship measurement tools to our benchmarking reports, we collect, analyze, and share critical insights needed to close the disability employment gap. Whether identifying patterns of exclusion in digital hiring tools, surfacing best practices for accommodations, or spotlighting the perspectives of disabled workers, our research translates lived experience into evidence-based action.
We equip partners from the civic, corporate, and philanthropic sectors with the data they need to understand what’s working, where gaps remain, and how to move disability inclusion forward with impact.
What We’re Doing
- Leading the Disability Inclusion Blueprint, a comprehensive disability inclusion diagnostic tool.
- Publishing insights, like “Disability in the Workplace 2024”, which identifies key drivers of inclusive hiring, retention, and promotion, and “Misconceptions That Limit Disability Inclusion”, which examines systemic barriers to employment that the disabled face.
- Translating data into action by providing guidance and training on proven strategies that drive workforce outcomes.
- Partnering with academic institutions to launch the multi-year Employer Disability Practices Center (EDPC), with direction and investment from the National Institute of Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR). Research projects include:
- A longitudinal analysis of data collected through NOD’s Blueprint.
- An investigation of the effectiveness of mental health interventions in the workplace.
